His educational qualifications include an MBBS from JIPMER, Pondicherry, MD in General Medicine from All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, a DM from All India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi followed by an FRCP from Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.

His areas of expertise are Hepatitis B Treatment, Hepatitis C Treatment, Pancreas Transplantation, Steatosis, Hepatitis D Treatment, Hepatitis E Treatment, Wilson's Disease Treatment, and Hepatitis A Treatment.

Dr. Choudhuri has contributed significantly to the development of liver and digestive healthcare in the country, with a distinguished record of over 200 scientific publications, several orations, and awards.

Dr. Gourdas Choudhuri received the esteemed Prof. SA Naniwadekar Oration, he was honored with the Netaji Oration award. His achievements also include the Lifetime Achievement Award and the UP Ratan.
