Dr. Anil Bhan is one of India’s most respected cardiothoracic and vascular surgeons with over 37 years of experience.

He was part of the team that performed India’s first heart transplant, and he has helped with many transplant surgeries across the country. 

Dr. Bhan performed a heart bypass surgery on an 18-month-old, the youngest baby in India.

He was also the first in India to use special advanced tools like the harmonic scalpel and to perform extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO), the best procedure performed for severe heart patients.

Dr. Bhan has performed more than 28,000 heart and vascular surgeries with results that match the best hospitals in the world, more than 1,500 repeat surgeries in both adults and children and over 1,000 low-cost heart treatments.

In addition, he created and improved over 50 surgical tools that help make heart surgeries safer and more effective.

Dr. Bhan is highly skilled in performing pediatric heart surgery, valve repair surgeries, peripheral vascular surgeries, and aortic aneurysm surgeries as well.

He helped start three major heart surgery programs in Puttaparthi (1992), Whitefield (2001), and Max Heart and Vascular Institute (2004).

Besides this, Dr. Bhan also worked as a professor at the prestigious All India Institute of Medical Sciences and trained many young heart surgeons.
